Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
For the last 3 weeks I ve had an almost constant smell of dust or smoke but I don t smoke and I work in an office where no one smokes. I have sleep apnea and use a CPAP machine but not sure if it s a factor as I ve had it for three years and these symptoms have only just recently begun.
As you are already on CPAP which indicates you have any form COPD. Most of the patients suffering from COPD are allergic to different day to day environmental things that they get in contact with be it smoke, dust, perfumes, pollens etc. but every patient is not allergic to everything. To determine this you have to undergo a skin sensitivity prick test to know your position. As you have described that it just has begun to affect you which may be the case as some patients develop allergy over a period of time. The best thing I would suggest is to avoid contact with allergens is to wear a mask. Some of the Ayurvedic medicines and pranayama may help you a lot like
Anguraasav, Haridrakhand, Allergin granules and Bristol Syrup but they can be taken only after proper verification of your condition.Pranayama breathing excercises can be seen in videos online.
Hope that helps Thanks
