I was in auto accident ejected from vehicle, unconscious ems took me hosp one pupil constricted one dilated. had c2 odontoids fx type 3 surgeon did c1 c2 c3 fusion. discharged after 6 month order return work no restrictions. no point did MD or medical staff tell me about what to expect. I work peds homecare lifting 7 y/0 up from floor and lift up to w/c and its 12hr. I would come home miserably movement hurt. one day it felt like something broke in my neck they had it fixed where only so far rotation and little front and back. I could feel a release it pulled my neck to right and can hyperextend almost top my head to posterior base, my neck hurts constantly any movement makes more severe. posterior shoulder pain. what going on ?
First of all it's sad to know what you had been going through lately. Based on the history you have shared, you need to have repeat Xray of the cervical spine as well CT scan or MRI if needed.
Orthopedic surgeon or neurosurgeon review may also be needed. Meanwhile OTC analgesics like acetaminophen or Ibuprofen can be used.
Avoid heavy weight bearing or strenous tasks unless any structural lesion in spine isn't ruled out.
