What Causes Constant Stomach Pain With Occasional Vomiting?

Hi. I m a 60 yr old female, 130 lbs, quite healthy except for stomach pain. Upper stomach. Feels like I ve been punched. No nausea, need to take fiber due to lexapro, occasionally feel like vomiting but never do. I stopped taking ibuprofen for arthritis in my shoulder and switched to Tylenol. Never take more than 2 per day. I ve been taking Prilosec every morning for two weeks and it helps some but not much. I ve been experiencing this pain for several years! I can no longer drink an occasional glass of wine as my stomach starts to kill me. Other foods really don t bother me. Rarely get heartburn. Thank you.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Constant abdominal pain with vomiting commonly occurs due to Liver dysfunction, gall bladder stones, kidney infections, UTI, food poisoning, GERD, acid reflux, etc. You are suggested to get clinically examined by a GP, get CBC, LFT, urinalysis and imaging tests done to detect the factor causing you discomfort. Your treatment will depend on the reports of the investigations obtained and your clinical conditions.

In the meantime take antacids and PPI's to feel better and avoid taking fried food, oily spicy food, trans food, refined flour. Take boiled food in small amounts multiple times a day. Avoid red meat, cheese and cream. Take semi solid food that is easily digestible. Take digestives & laxatives. Take veggies, berries and fruits in plenty but not raw. Stay well hydrated, avoid addictions if any. Take adequate sleep.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
