What Causes Constant Swelling In Lower Leg With An History Of Surgery?

My daughter has constant swelling. From her knee down because of the rod in her leg. It has been several years since the surgery. Right now her foot is turning blue and the swelling upward is bad. We have it elevated. What is causing the swelling? Jund

Infection of the leg can cause so. Loss of blood supply can lead to leg turning blue. Immediate attention is necessary or she may lead to lose her leg.
