What Causes Constant Ticking Sound In Ears Of A Hypertensive Person?

My uncle can hear what sounds like a car ticking over in his head constantly. He only hears it when he s indoors, but when he goes outside it vanishes. We have checked for humming noises around the house but we can t hear anything. He recently stopped taking his blood pressure tablets, but started taking them again, but it hasn t made any difference. Please help

Hello and welcome to HCM,
The ticking sound in the ears is probably due to tinnitus.
Tinnitus is hearing abnormal sounds in the ear.
It is audible only indoors probably due to less interfering sounds indoors as compared to outdoors.
Hypertension may cause tinnitus.
You need to consult an ENT doctor for clinical assessment and relevant investigations.
If no other cause for tinnitus is found, control of hypertension may help in controlling it.
