What Causes Constant Vaginal Spotting?

I have had bleeding (not profusely) for over a month when I go to the bathroom and I wipe myself. Blood is on the bathroom toilet paper at times . I have used Preparation H for approximately 1 month. Some days are better than others in terms of the blood on the toilet paper. I also have gas at times during the day. Should I be concerned ? What are my next steps to resolve this issue?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Let me tell you that the symptoms described by you due to contraction of smooth muscles that occur periods times. I suggest to taking tranexamic three times a day for 5 days for controlling bleeding. I also suggest an ultrasound of the lower abdomen for the proper cause of bleeding. I advise you to consult a gynecologist for further evaluation and its appropriate treatment.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Arup Majumdar, General & Family Physician
