What Causes Constipation, Abdominal Pain And Profuse Sweating When Diagnosed With Diverticulosis?

For the past few days I ve been constipated and now I have sever pain in my lower right side & profuse sweating. I have been diagnosed with Diverticulosis. I don t know how to treat this. I have no nausea, but I can only seem to eat fruit or drink water. Anything else makes my gut feel heavy. The symptoms are not going away. Should I go to the emergency room & if so, what can I expect, besides the typical long wait?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

These are common symptoms of diverticulitis and indicates a flare up of disease. As a first line of management you can take laxatives like lactulose for symptomatic relief. If symptoms persist, better to consult a gastroenterologist and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
