Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My husband has lung cancer. He had most of his lung removed. Went through 6 weeks of chemo and rad. His main problem right now is he can not poop. And has not been able for almost a week and this happens every other week same thing no poop and a lot of pain.
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have constipation after chemotherapy . Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query , but in your case it is due to chemotherapy . Some chemotherapy drugs can result in constipation. I would suggest you to eat foods high in fiber like fruits (pears), cereals, and vegetables , drink two to three liters of non-alcoholic fluids (water, juices) each day , exercise ( light walk ) twenty to thirty minutes most days . If symptoms persist then consult your doctor , who may prescribe laxative . Doctor may also refer you to gastroenterologist for gastric problem .
Hope your concern has been resolved.
