What Causes Constipation After Giving Toned Milk With Cerelac In A Child?

Hi My baby just turned 6 minths. As advised by the pedia I switched to toned milk and added cerelac wheat and rice in his diet. Sadly he got constipated and cried the whole next day. I immediately switched back to formula milk and stopped cerelac. I am really scared to give him solids now....please help!!! FYI...I changed the milk and added cerelac on the same day.

Hi, I am of the opinion that, you need not worry about this right now.
you have started the weaning process, and symptoms such as constipation and loose stools are common.
i would advise my patient to
1) To start the weaning by 6months, add one food at a time, give in small amount to start with.
2) Weaning is only supplementary, breast feeding should be continued.
3) If loose stools, fever arises then consult your paediatrician immediately.
4) Immunize the child as per the schedule.
at now introduce single food in incremental amounts.
Hope I have answered your question. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help
