Good Afternoon, I finished Chemo for breast cancer about a year a ago. My doctor said that I had to take 1000 milligrams of calcium, which I been doing. does it cause constipation and calcium around your heart. I heard of another calcium supplement that I can take which starts with a z, forgot the name. Thanks

Hello,

I understand your concern. Calcium does cause constipation and bloating, however, starting to take this supplement in small doses initially and then increase the dose to 1000 mg is a good way to avoid constipation.
Good news is not all brands of calcium supplements have this side effect. I am not aware of the one starting with Z but you can try supplements with calcium citrate.
Keep in mind that when taking calcium supplements it is important that you drink plenty of water, add fiber in your diet and be physically active.

I hope this helps
Wishing you all the best
