What Causes Constipation And Stomach Pain After Swallowing Fish Bone?

my 11 yr old son swallowed a salmon bone one week ago. Stuck in throat for the evening and then the next day complained of transient stomach pains... He continues to complain now of pains in his intestines which appears to be non specific regionally. We went to the dr. yesterday and she believes he is constipated. We actually forgot to mention the bone because we were focusing on the fact that 1 month ago we went to Mexico and we were thinking this was continued problems from that sickness. Could the pain be a bone or tear in his intestines? Thanks!

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

It is not likely that the bone would have caused any extensive tear in his intestines that would result in significant symptoms.

A tear would be associated with a risk of infection to the affected areas and this would cause a number of symptoms in addition to the pain.

I hope this helps
