Hi, I'm 38w2d pregnant and have not been able to have a bowel movement for a few days. When I am able to go its a very, very little amount. I also woke up one night with an intense amount of pain on the right side of my abdomen near the lower middle. The pain was so bad I felt nausea and could barely move. Is this a severe case of constipation or something worse? Also if it is constipation, what can I do to help it? I've tried exercise, prune juice, tons of water, healthier foods with high fiber and so far nothing has worked.

What Causes Constipation During Pregnancy?
Hi, Welcome to healthcare magic. I have read your question. I would like to reply as below: 1) You try sleeping in left lateral position. 2) Sleeping on abdomen for a long time causes decreased bowel movements by compressing on the bowel. 3) So try sleeping sideways . If you have any further queries, let me know so that I can help you much better. Wish you good health. Dr. Soumya
