What Causes Constipation While Giving Cerelac To An Infant?

I started my baby on rice cerelac since Sunday(17th July) and he finished worth 2 spoons of cerelac. He passed his motion in the evening however since then he hasn t passed motion yet. It s day 3 and I am quite worried. He gets top feeds as well but only after 4-5 hours of having cerelac. Is cerelac causing constipation ?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello thank you for writing us here.
Cerelac is new food for little babies. Sometimes they may not pass stools till 6 or 7 days. But its somewhat normal to pass stools after 6 or 7 days. But if you want, you can still continue the breast milk along with some cerelac. The pattern of stool passing would be back to normal.
God bless you and the little baby.

Best regards,
Dr Gunjan
