What Causes Constipation While On Oral Antifungal Medication?
My stool color has been yellow for the last week or so. I recently had oral thrush and since my round of antifungals my belly bloat has gone down. I ve also lost 10 pounds in 3 weeks but wondering if this is due to cutting out carbs, sugars, and processed foods and only drinking water. Just concerned on whether my stool color is normal or cause for concern. I also had severe constipation issues for the last year but also since taking antifungals and taking probiotics I am now going regularly. Had blood tests and cbc done and all tests come back normal. I can understand your concern. You do not need to worry regarding the colour of stool as long as you are comfortable otherwise and not having any symptoms. In fact, after starting the oral antifungal medications, your previous problems are solved.
However, the antifungals you are taking for oral thrush may have effects on your stool colour and your bowel habits. It may happen that after stopping the medications, you feel constipated. In that case, you should use laxatives or consult a physician for clinical examinations and other investigations if required.
The medicines taken for oral thrush changes the oral and stomach bacterial flora that may be responsible for the changes you are experiencing.
