What Causes Continuous Bleeding After Taking Nexplanon?
I got nexplanon BC placed on March 10th of this year. I have been bleeding Continuously since. There has literally been one day the I was period free.. In considering removing the nexplanon but the bleeding is my only complaint. I ve gets that you can take birth control pills on top of the nexplanon and it would stop the bleeding... is this true? And would the BC still be as effective against pregnancy? Thank you!!
Definitely, implant of Nexplanol implant may cause side effects of spotting, brown vaginal discharge and even continuous heavy bleeding. However, mostly these effects are due to the body adopting to new levels of hormones as a result of release of hormones by the implant and resolve themselves after some time.
In the meantime, you are advised not to get the implant removed and wait for the symptoms to subside themselves. Usually the symptoms of spotting go by 6-12 months. However, if the bleeding is very heavy and causing severe discomfort, intervention by simultaneous use of contraceptive pill along with Nexplanon implant may give you relief and stop the bleeding. Implant will still be effective, even if we use contraceptive pill simultaneously.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
