What Causes Continuous Wax Discharge From The Ear In A Kid?
My 3 year old woke up the other night crying because he thought someone hit his ear and was in pain. The next morning he woke up with clear drainage leaking out of his ear and continued pain. Since he has tubes in his ears and does does have a cold, we took him in to be looked at. The doctor said his ear was fine and the fluid was just the mucous from his cold draining out how it was suppose to. About an hour after he came home he had a little bit of blood around the inside of his ear, which went away, but now he is constantly draining wax out of his ear and onto his shoulder. The wax has been draining for a couple of days now and seems more then normal. Should we take him back in to be looked at?
It seems what you describe as wax is not wax at all. sometimes a dark brown blood stained mucous discharge is easily mistaken as wax. Most likely he has got a middle ear infection. When his cold subsides, the ear infection also reduces. If it's continuous, pls consult an ENT
