Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, I have a nagging cough that is not very productive. However the small amount of phlegm that is produced has an oddly sweet taste. The cough has been happening for a few days. The sweet taste has been in the last 24 hours. I don't have many other symptoms other that fatigue, sight shortness of breath with coughing, and mild aches. Any thoughts? I'm unsure why there is now a sweet taste.
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of cough along with shortness of breath which is due to lung infection leading to bronchitis. Poor immunity exaggerating your symptoms. These symptoms can also occur due to other conditions like asthma or certain cardiac conditions . I would suggest you to do warm saline gargles with pinch of salt water. Avoid taking hot, spicy and fried food. Avoid cold carbonated beverages and don't smoke and alcohol. Take expectorants. Steam inhalation is very effective for you. I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist without any delay . Doctor may order blood test , throat swab test or virus culture test. You should get an x ray of the chest and Immunoglobulin G levels checked for further treatment. Doctor may also refer you to cardiologist or allergy specialist depending upon the diagnosis . Apply humidifiers in room.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
