What Causes Cough And Ankle Edema While On Norvasc?
i have been on norvasc for 2 and one half month. 10 mg/day starting dose. feel ill. have moist productive cough with clear sputum. ankle edema. I m more tired than usual. Occassional weird feeling in my head as if blood moving from one side to the other then settles. b/p better. From 180/90 to 110. Now 140/90 sometimes 140/60. Moist cough is annoying as I work in health field and appear sick to peers.

I evaluated your concern in depth. Norvasc is a calcium channel blocker group of anti-hypertensive drug. As a part of mechanism of action it relaxes blood vessels so that the blood can flow through more easily, tend to cause peripheral pooling of the blood in form of ankle edema. In many cases cough is an uncommon side effect found in minority of cases.
