Hello Nisa
I understand your concern.
The symptoms you described suggest your child has got lower
respiratory tract infection like bacterial pneumonia/
whooping cough.
Does he/she have similary history in past? Then it may point towards
childhood asthma.
This situation cannot be managed at home as child has got breathing difficulty with wheezing.
Duolin repsules can be given to children but the dose is different from that of adults.
The child needs to be taken to paediatrician.
Physical examination with certain investigations like blood haemogram,X ray chest will be required.
Nebulization with a suitable
bronchodilator needs to be given.
Further management depends upon the diagnosis.
If lower respiratory tract infection is found,it will be followed antibiotic course like
erythromycin for 7-10 days.
For asthma, child may be started on oral bronchodilators and low dose steroid.
Hope this information helps.
Wish your child speedy recovery
