HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

After trauma, the pain can escalate after the first few days to it is not unusual that you are now having severe pain.

If it is possible, since you were punched in the side that you may have injured one or more of your ribs.
If the pain is to the extent that you have difficulty breathing, then you need to be assessed as soon as possible.

The use of a warm compress to the affected area, 2 to 3 times a day for 15 to 20 mins , may help.
Pain medication such as ibuprofen, naproxen, cataflam or celebrex would be helpful. Should be used consistently for a few days.

A cough suppressant should also be used for a few days to reduce coughing because this would aggravate the injury. This would be over the counter.

If there is no relief or worsening or difficulty breathing, you should be seen.

I hope this helps
