What Causes Cough And Pain In The Upper Back?

Have non productive chest cough with pain in left upper back and left lower back. Have pressure in ears. Started with chills & severe body aches & chest cough. No mucous coughed up. No mucous in nose. Have been taking a decongestant for 4 days. Took Tylenol cold & flu tablets for 3 days. Felt better, but today I have this back pain and still have the deep cough.

Hello,

Your chest pain seems to be pleural pain (more precisely dry pleurisy) in view of respiratory symptoms like cough and chills (likely fever), body ache as constitutional symptoms indicative of infective etiology.

Pressure in ears is likely to be due to Eustachian tube blockade (URTI initially).

Get an X-ray chest PA view done and FBC (full blood count). A course of broad-spectrum antibiotic is justified in addition to your supportive cares(cold tablets which usually includes Acetaminophen as pain killer etc).
