Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
i have had low grade fever for over a week, a cough, I can hardly climb a set of stairs because I get very winded and out of breath. Went to doctor on Monday - was given an antibiotic for a bacterial infection although doctor did say my lungs actually sounded good. Done with 3 days of antibiotic - 2 days left and I am no better
The lung infection is diagnosed by clinical and laboratory assessment with other tests. In case you don't have any evidence for bacterial lung infections, the antibiotics are of no rule in your treatment. At the moment, you should consult your doctor for clinical evaluation. You should also do the following tests:-
1- CBC
2- X-ray
3- ECG
4- Lung function tests
I hope I have answered your query. Let me know if you have any further questions.
Take care.
