What Causes Cough And Tight Sensation In The Chest?

hi my dad 73 years was diagnose of 2 leaky valves today. he was informed by the dr to take oral medication for 2 weeks and come for a check up or else surgery. his symptoms were a cough and heart tightness which resulted in doing an ecg and echocardiogram. pls tell me if this is something serious or what should be done.

Most likely the cough and chest tightness is due to pulmonary edema (fluid collection in lungs) which is caused by back pressure in lung vessels due to the leaky valves. It can be managed by medicines, but severe cases require surgical valve repair.
Regarding the seriousness, I recommend consulting with your doctor as the outcome depends on the general condition of patient, his blood workup and other systems affected.
