Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Generally insect bites are accompained by inflamation (redness and pain at the site of bite, or of the limb affected). In my opinion your symptoms are related to a viral infection, probably from the sick person you had contact two days before. I suggest you to take antiinflamatory treatment (Ibuprofen) for body ache, drink plenty of fluids, and take guaifenesin for cough. If you don't improve from the treatment, you should consult a doctor for physical examination, because you might also need to start antibiotics.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
