What Causes Cough, Headache, Nausea, Sore Throat And Chills After An Insect Bite?

I was bitten by a horsefly a few days ago, and now I am feeling sick. I am coughing, have a headache, some nausea, sore throat, chills - but no fever, muscle aches and tiredness. Should I see a dr., or could it just be a coincidence that I am getting sick after the insect bite?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The insect bite and your symptoms are less likely related. But it is better to get yourself examined to avoid complications. Your symptoms might be due to some infection from the bacterial or viral cause.

It’s better to see a doctor and get some blood tests done along with a physical examination to know the exact cause behind your symptoms. So that appropriate management can be done.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Manisha Auradkar, General & Family Physician
