What Causes Cough While On Valsartan/HCTZ?

Hi, My name is Ann and I need some information on Valsartan/HCTZ I ve been prescribed. It causes me a cough still even though it is listed as an ARB. The prescribed dosage is Valsartan 160mg/12.5HCTZ. Which one is the Valsartan and which is the HCTZ of the mg I typed?

Hello,
Yes, sometimes even patients on Arbs get cough so in that case so in that case you should be shifted to another class of antihypertensive medicine. Valsartan is Arb and it's 160 mg, hct is 12.5 mg.
According to me, you should be started on Tab Cilnidipine 10 mg once a day and Tab Hct 12.5 mg once a day. Cilnidipine may be increased to 20 mg if bp is not controlled.
