What Causes Cough With Little Or No Mucus?

I have a cough that feels like it generates at the base of my neck, little to no mucus. My doctor thought I could have had walking pneumonia about a month ago. When he listened to my lungs they did sound clear.I took a strong medication and it went away for about two and a half weeks. I don t have any drainage. Any suggestions

Hi,

You may need a chest x-ray. Often a persistent cough can be caused by asthma, chronic post nasal drip, and acid reflux. There is something called laryngopharyngeal reflux that sounds much like your symptoms. A persistent dry cough can also be a side effect of ACE inhibitors such as lisinopril. You should seek further evaluation for your symptoms.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
