What Causes Coughing Up Of Dark Phlegm And Pain In Lung?

I am coughing up dark phlegm and everytime i hiccup or burp i get a bad pain in my right lung. I was diagnosed with an ear infection yesterday and the doctor stated the infection has traveled through my body quickly because I am pregnant. Could this be caused by that infection or should i be concerned it s something more serious?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Dark phlegm with pain in lung while coughing indicates lower respiratory tract infection which is curable during pregnancy and nothing to be panic about. Opt following measures to get faster results:

- Deep breathing exercises
- Avoid contact with pollen and dust
- Use face mask wisely
- Turmeric powder added in skimmed milk 3 times a day
- Continue antibiotics as per guidance of your doctor as you need pregnancy category A or B drugs to avoid side effects over fetus

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
