General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

I was wondering which is the cause of the productive cough. Usually, we don't recommend suppressive medications for the cough with phlegm only for cough without secretion.

However, I am sure that your treating doctor knows better your clinical situation.

Yes, you can use them without any problem but not for a long time and if lung problems are excluded as the cause of this kind of cough.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Ivan R. Rommstein, General Surgeon
