I have had the flu recently, and it started with a fever. I got over the fever (it was as high as 101), and then the mucus started. I've been coughing and sneezing like crazy, but it got worse yesterday and today. I just coughed up a little piece of flesh with a tiny bit of red on it, which I assume is blood. My cough isn't as bad now afterwards. Should I be worried that I might have some sort of damage to my lungs or bronchial tubes?
You are suffering from bronchitis and the blood in sputum was due to repeated coughing leading to erosion of the layer covering the bronchus .. I would opine you to take a five dy course of Tab. AUGMENTIN.. If the coughing persists or worsens get an Xray chest done to rule out presence of pneumonia..
