What Causes Coughing Up Of Green Phlegm While Suffering From Lung Disease?
I have interstitial lung disease and a productive cough--I got the flu last October and have been coughing up yellow green phlegm ever since. The cough is so bad that it affects my eating and I sometimes throw up food and don t feel hungry. I have lost about thirty pounds since October and sweat at nights and occasionally spark a fever when I am out late. Is there anything I can do. I m being treated with chemo for my ILD and my O2 counts are good, but the last year has been debilitating.
Hi Thanks for posting on HCM Being on chemo is immunosuppressing and may predisposed you you to opportunistic lung infections including TB.The symptoms you describe like productive cough, weight loss, night sweat are found in TB.However, I will suggest you get a sputum exam and see a Pneumologist for investigation.Your symptoms could as well be caused by your ILD. I will suggest: -You take an antipyretic like paracetamol -A mucolytic like carbocysteine -Eat healthy Your Doctor may prescribe antibiotics if any arguments in favor of a bacteria lung infection. Hope my answer will help you Wish you a speedy recovery
