Hello. Thanks for asking from HCM.
I can understand your concern.
This cracking sound in head after
head injury could be due to
: Skull
bone fracture - It is a possibility as head injury might have caused fracture which might have been missed at that time. While you move or shake head, fracture is causing this sound. Usually fracture heals by one year but sometimes due to tissue growth in between ends can cause persistence of fracture line.
No need to do anything for fracture. Diagnosis can be confirmed by CT head with bony cuts. Treatment includes symptomatic relief. You can take painkiller like
Diclofenac sodium after proper prescription.
: Persistent collection - It could be due to persistent
hematoma. Blood collection at injury site usually gets absorbed in 10 to 14 days but sometimes it may persist. Persistence of it can give rise such type of sound on moving head.
You have to
consult doctor for evacuation of it. The doctor will examine you and might advise investigation like CT head or aspiration of collection to confirm diagnosis. You may be prescribed antibiotics like Co-amoxyclav after aspiration to avoid any infection.
:
Tension headache - It is one of the most common type of headache. It occurs in forehead region, dull aching, gives band like sensation around forehead, increases on
stress, may give rise to neck pain/abnormal sensations in head.
If your features are similar to it, it can be managed by
; avoid stress
; bed rest
; maintain 8 hour sleep routine
; head and neck massage
; You can take painkiller like Diclofenac sodium after proper prescription.
You can correlate your features and reach unto some conclusion. Hope it will help you.
If still no relief, consult doctor.
Thanks. Take care
