Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Cramping In Stomach And Leg Along With Diarrhea?
my 10 year old son started complaining of stomach cramps last night and constantly going to the restroom. He finally went to sleep but he woke up this morning with diarrhea and stomach cramps. I gave him some ginger ale and he vomited and started to feel a little better. However he has been sleeping off and on and now complaining of leg cramps. He doesn t want to drink anything because as soon as he does his stomach starts to hurt again.
Dehydration and loss of electrolytes due to diarrhoea can cause pain or cramps in the calves or legs.Drink plenty of water, fruit juice or tender coconut. Oral rehydration solution (ORS) powder mixed with water can also prevent dehydration. Low blood pressure should also be ruled out.
In case of severe nausea or vomiting, intravenous fluids may be required to correct the fluid volume which can be done after visiting your doctor.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Saranya Ramadoss, General & Family Physician
