What Causes Cramps And Light Vaginal Bleeding After Taking Birth Control Pills?

Its the first time I start taking birth control pills so I may be a little confused as to what im doing and what to expect. i was given Trinessa and my gyno said I could start on my period or today which I did so I started right away. The day I started is when I was supposed to get my period but I usually get it a few days after Im supposed to. I did feel a bit of cramping which tells me I will get it soon. Anyway I started taking the pills before it started and its been now 6 days and barely today I got a bit of cramps and some light brown discharge or bleeding. Just a bit. Will I be getting my expected period or will it really come until I hit the green inactive pills? Is there a risk with ne starting before getting my period???

Hello,

Taking birth control pills often get vaginal spot bleeding and cramping at the first 6 months during taking medicine. It may take time for the pills to regulate the menstrual cycle as the body needs to adjust to the new hormone levels. So you may experience irregular bleeding spot between period initially.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
