What Causes Cramps And Painful Breasts After Changing Pills?
Hi, I was taking Depo Provera until June this year and switched to the mini pill for 3 months, i finished these and had some cramping and 2 days of dark discharge and that s all but for the last few weeks i have had sore boobs, i took a test this morning and it was negative. The only other time i has sore boobs i found out i was 6/7 weeks pregnant and had a positive test, why do my boobs hurt.
Change in the hormones cause changes in the breast tissue leading to discomfort, soreness or pain.
Depo Provera contains Medroxyprogesterone Acetate while Mini pill contains progestin. Progestin causes side effects like breast tenderness, decreased sex drive, depression, etc.
The soreness should go away as soon as your body adjusts with Mini pill.
For cramps, you can take Spasmol (Spasmoproxyvon) when needed.
Since you have a negative pregnancy test, you are not pregnant. If you had unprotected sex & missed a pill, then you can take a repeat pregnancy test after a week.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
