What Causes Cramps In The Lower Legs And Feet In An Elderly Person?
I am a 60 year old female. The only prescription meds. I take are for cholesterol. I have started having severe cramps in my lower legs and feet. This seems to happen at night when asleep....it wakes me up, I have to get out of bed and stand up to relieve the cramp and pain. Is this anything to be concerned about?
dear madam cramps in leg can be due to calcium and vitD deficiency. please take supplements like calcimax or shelcal twice in a day. Also take vit D3 supplement like upriseD3 once in a week for 3,-4 mth. increase intake of calcium rich food like oats, milk and dairy products, sesame seeds, meat ,fish, poultry etc. do exercise 30min everyday. you can also blood test for total vit D level to confirm its deficiency. expose yourself to sunshine for 15min everyday. consult again if the above measure does not work. wish you good health
