What Causes Cramps In The Right Hand?

Mostly its in my right hand but I am consistently getting a muscle type cramp in my hand and into my fingers. It feels like a Charlie horse or muscle spasm that makes my middle finger and thumb almost lock up and I need to stretch them out until it goes away. Ive been trying to drink lots of water but it doesn t seem to be changing anything. Should I be concerned? I m 47 and in good shape. I did break my neck twice in the passed but have been told I m recovered from those injuries which the first time was in 2001 and the second was three years ago.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

You take tramadol and paracetamol combination. Please keep your hand in warm water for 15 to 20 minutes thrice a day.

Don't exert pressure on the affected part. If not resolved, then consult neurophysician, he might suggest to do MRI.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Purva Patel
