What Causes Creaky Sound From The Esophagus While Suffering From Sore Throat?

I have had a sore throat, low grade fever, sinus drainage and cough for the last 2-3 days. I have been on antibiotics and OTC Ned s. No fever anymore, just drainage, and cough mostly. When I exhale I hear a creaky noise coming from my esophagus. Is there any reason to worry about this? No difficulty breathing at all.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

So most likely you are suffering from laryngopharyngitis which is causing this creaky sound. I will advise you to give rest to voice for some days by speaking very mildly and only when required. Drink warm water and gargle frequently. You will be alright in a couple of days.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Loveleen Sharma, General & Family Physician
