What Causes Crossed Eyes?

Hello..I have been having a problem with my eyes on and off for the last. Couple of months. I don t know how to describe it. It s a very odd sensation. One of my eyes will open very wide and the other will squint. It feels like my eyes want to cross. It sometimes affects my eyebrows as well. One eyebrow will rise really high making them look uneven. It dosent happen everyday but when it does it happens several times a day and for a few days then it will go away and I will feel fine. But it s been happening alot lately..

Diabetologist 's  Response
Hi,

There are 2 possible diagnosis here: (1) A possible dystonia- this is the occurrence of contraction of some muscles for a period of time. Like a blepharospasm.
(2) A possible seizure activity (partial seizures). I think this possibility is less likely but needs to be ruled out anyways. You need to visit a neurologist and get yourself examined. I would however recommend testing an MRI brain (seizure profile) and EEG.

I would suggest you let us know the reports. Anti-epileptics cannot be initiated without a complete history and examination and test reports. As for the dystonia, you can try medicine called Baclofen when you develop these episodes.

A prescription can be sought from your neurologist. I have tried to make it as simple as possible.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
