Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have surgery in one week for cubital tunnel syndrome on my main arm. I had blood work done for my general physician on an unrelated issue which found a positive ANA and I am being referred to a rheumatologist for possible Lupus. Can Lupus cause cubital tunnel? Is this something my surgeon needs to know even though I don t know for sure yet?
Hello, Its unlikely for lupus to cause cubital tunnel syndrome without causing other manifestations. Its occurs due to degenerative changes with age and compression of nerve. Many a times, ANA is normally present in blood, what is more important is its concentration. So it's important to know it's concentration, its type and also need to do DSDNA levels which will help in confirmation of lupus if it's positive. Hope this helps you and get back if you have any doubts.
