Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I don t have a lot of info but my doctor just called with US results. Several cysts in the liver and something that they are not sure what it is. I have had elevated liver enzymes but the blood work came back normal last week. Pretty scared right now. Your thoughts would be appreciated. 63 yrs old female. Thanks.
dear lady first i want you not to be worry about that cysts of the liver can occur normally in 1% percent of adults at age 55-80 specially and its chance increase in women than men......i know you may fear of cancer or tumours but i want to assure you that is away from your case ....accumulation of fluid increased by age and form these cysts and you may have mild elevation of liver enzymes.....if it is pathogenic it will refer to infection with paracytes such as amoeba that form what is called amoebic cysts of the liver and if that was the cause it is not dangerous as simple treatment will role that out and improvement eill occur....you may discuss with your doctor to make ct scan of liver just to get complete relaxed and get out your worry.......briefly cysts of liver that found by ultrasound doesnot resemble dangerous sign and doesnot mean any suggestion of tumour......so please take it simply and dont worry.....wish you healthy life
