I have what feels like a knot on the left side of my back. I have had it for quite some time. Very tender to the touch. And this morning I woke up to very dark bruises in the same area. It is about the mid back..... up from the pelvis and just under where the rib cage is. What could it be??? Please help!!!

Internal Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hello,

Lumbar spondylosis or pyelonephritis or pancreatitis or fungal infection or back muscle spasm may present like this. Until examination is done it is difficult to say what it is.

Use tablet Pantoprazole before breakfast for one week. Use tablet tramadol with Paracetamol twice a day for five days. Get it done urine examination and ultrasound abdomen.

Then consult your doctor he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
