What Causes Dark Discharge From Surgical Stitches?
Hi, I received stitches after having a surgery completed about a week and a half ago. The stitches are right at the end of my eyebrow, a cyst was removed. There is now a very dark colored (almost black), blood coming out of it, is this normal? Is this a sign of possible infection?
Hello Dear I evaluated your query thoroughly . @ According to your narration surgery is almost likely to be performed for removal of the Angular Dermoid Cyst . @ Moderate amount of blood collection is predictable in any type of such surgery in the residual space after cyst excision . @ It is the accumulated blood which is oozing from the stich site . @ In presence of fever , tachycardia , raised WBC count in the report it confirms infection otherwise not . @ Recommendation for you # Go regularly for dressing according to the advise of the operating Surgeon . # Take necessary antibiotics & anti-inflammatory agents as per advise by your doctor regularly . # Report immediately if there is fever, more redness , severe pain or else Hope this will definitely help you to some extent . Feel free to ask any future health related query anytime . Thanks for using Health care magic . Regards .
