Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
About a year and a half my ob/gyn put me on pellets for hormones. I did this 3 times. I started having periods so I said no more. About that time I noticed my hairline in front started turning dark brown. I have white hair. Then I noticed my hair getting thin. It is now spreading and I m concerned. I don t know if it was connected to the pellets or just coincidence. I am 68 years old. I was 66 at the time I started the pellets. My primary dr told me to never do the pellets again as I had not had a period in over 13 years and it was too late and the pellets could cause problems. I am concerned about my hair turning dark and now falling out and thinning. My email: YYYY@YYYY Thank you Joan Smith
Pellets may lead to the production of dihydrotestosterone in men and women but under normal conditions, women have a minute fraction of the level of testosterone that men have, but even a lower level can cause DHT- triggered hair loss in women.
Also, check for fungal infection or telogen effluvium etc. Stop taking pellets. Please consult your dermatologist/ gynaecologist she will examine and treat you accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
