What Causes Dark Discolouration On Lips After Removing Stitches?
Hi I just got my stiches removed like 2 weeks ago on my lip.(35 stitches) because a dog bit me my lips is looking fine. But my like upper right lip where he bit me looks fine with barely noticeable scars but it's kind of turning blackish/purple a little bit. Is this normal in the healing process or is something wrong? What should I do?
As you describe in your query that you have discoloration of lips after removal of stitches .Well this usually happens after healing process and the condition is known as post inflammatory hyper pigmentation .In this condition melanin pigment get accumulated after inflammatory response.
I would suggest you to -:
-Avoid sun exposure to prevent further hyper pigmentation ,apply broad spectrum sunscreen.
-Apply vitamin E oil to the area of stitches which will promotes healthy skin formation.
