Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My grand baby has had a really dark gray stool since my daughter put her on formula to try to ease her gas. It didn t help. She still burps and passes gas all the time and cries unless you hold her certain ways with pressure on her belly. What could be wrong?
Welcome to HCM. Sorr y about the baby woes. Changing formula will cause a change in stool color and consistency. Babies will cry for various reasons and the worst part is that they cannot tell you what is wrong. You might have a baby that is colicky. Others are intolerant to formula and can only do breast milk. Yes is the baby doing better on breast milk? If so and if mother cannot breast feed for whatever reason, there are breast feeding websites and clubs that donate breast milk that can help the colicky of formula. I know this because I personally realized how breast milk is like gold. We had to buy and travel as far as 6 hours away to get precious human breast milk. Our son grew out of his intolerance to formula after about 1 year old. Some say that goat milk will also help. IO hope this helps. Please ask a follow up question if you have one. Good luck.
