Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
The exterior of my scotum sack has dark patches on the skin that has a severe burning itch. So bad I have bruised the skin scratching. I tried over the counter yeast medi which helped some but condition continues. Could it be fungus and how can I tell.
As per your query you have symptoms of dark patches around scrotum which seems to be due to fungal infection in that area and due to improper hygiene. It could be due to reaction by lubricated condoms as well.
Need not to worry. I would suggest you to
- Wear loose cotton inner wear.
- Maintain complete hygiene of area.
- You should apply Cotrimazole which is an antifungal ointment.
- Take antibiotic like Cefixime along with anti inflammatory drug medications like Diclofenac twice daily.
- Ensure to avoid sexual intercourse till the time lesion heals completely.
If symptoms keeps on persisting visit dermatologist once and get complete examination done and start treatment accordingly.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
