What Causes Dark Patches With Itching Sensation On Stomach And Hips?
my son 27 yrs old developed some dark itchy patches on both the sides of the stomach.it started from the hips on both sides.then it was found on the thighs.it is spreading to everywhere.but wherever his skin is exposed it is not there so far from the past 40 days it appeared.what could be the reason and what is the treatment for this

Your son has developed dark patches on the skin of the hips and stomach and is very itchy. It is indicative of contact dermatitis. He is suggested to take care of his hygiene. He should take bath regularly and wear loose fitting soft cotton clothes. He should not share his toiletries with anyone and should get his clothes washed frequently in hot water. o get rid of the discomfort he can take non-sedating anti histamines.
He can apply ointment hydrocortisone on the affected area for relief. He should not touch or scratch else it may lead to spread of infection. He should avoid products containing perfumes, avoid wearing itchy fabrics like wool and polyester. It should go away in 3-4 days, if not he should get clinically examined by a dermatologist. If fungal infection is detected he will be treated with antifungal medicines and anti-fungal ointment. He should avoid eating food that may trigger his symptoms.
