What Causes Dark Purple Discoloration On The Big Toe While Suffering From Diabetes?
Hello I am Michael and I have an entire array of diseases but I am 58 and I found out about 8 yrs ago I am diabetic and I was also diagnosed with COPD, PAD, Venous insufficiency..... etc... My problem is that I m quite certain that I have Diabetic Neuropathy but not only do I not have feeling in my first three toes on the right and 2 on the left but I have noticed that my big toe on my right foot is turning dark purple and when I had venous insufficiency my legs turned almost black and certain parts of my feet did resemble a raisin and I am concerned about my toe because they were talking about taking a foot off years ago what should I do???
insufficient blood supply to the foot (ischemia) is a complication of diabetes. This might lead to diabetic ulcers which are difficult to heal, due to lack of appropriate blood supply to the foot.
Having color changes is a serious complain and it's advised to seek medical advice immediately.
You have to understand that there is no definite treatment, however, a specialized doctor can advice you of precautions to take care of, regarding diet, hygiene, activity and positioning that can prevent your problem from getting worse.
We wish you all the best. Take care.
