What Causes Dark Red Bruise On Knuckle After A Fall?
Hi five days ago I fell off my bike with my weight landing on the side of my hand through the handle bars. It is bruised as expected but my knuckles have come up in a dark red/brown/grey bruise just yesterday no pain on my knuckles either as I didn t land any weight on them. I am assuming this is normal but just double checking. Many thanks.
Bruising is common with even mild injury. But severe pain, swelling or bleeding from bruises should be treated immediately. Any small fractures or severe soft tissue swelling should be ruled out with X-Ray of your wrist and metacarpal joints. Pain killers and hot compress and giving rest to the affected hand can provide early pain relief.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Saranya Ramadoss, General & Family Physician
